xmascard 24: credits, comments, ani and bob news for 2024

• Notes:
  Gaza. Ongoing genocide a year later! The future of the annual dr bob and ms ani holiday newsletter is in doubt. Last year the head creator just could not find the emotional energy to make a lighthearted themed card, so for the first time since our wedding note interference in 1991, no paper card went out. And the situation is worse this year with the continued clear genocide in Gaza fully supported by the US government which is now going to turn the violence against immigrants and progressives in our own "homeland". Not to mention the horrible hell going on in Sudan for tens of millions of black folk, ignored on the world stage. Arms fed to both sides by some of the usual geopolitical power brokers. Meanwhile the oligarchs have overtly taken control of the USA where criminally increasing inequality will grow even further as the climate catastrophe clock ticks away.
  
  No paper edition was planned for this year but at the last minute inspiration struck to do e-distribution of a recycled card given the repeat presidency that will soon crash into all our lives, planetwide. Using WhatsApp first, then Messenger, some SMS, and some email most of the 600 some world wide recipient addresses were covered though not very methodically, and a few incoming paper greetings had to be replied with a printout version. BUT the upside of this break in tradition that may be permanent is that it evoked immediate responses and short exchanges with many who have entered our diverse list over the years, a list meant to maintain those connections with the present and perhaps a future encounter.

• Personal News:
  We did not make it to Italy this past summer since an extended family visit to Yerevan, Armenia for Narin's wedding would have put our arrival into mid-July, and July in rome has become more oppressively hot each summer. But bob is retiring from teaching after Christmas, so no more calendar restrictions on travel.
