xmascard 19: credits, comments, ani and bob news for
2019
- Notes:
Impeachment circus, fall and winter. Election campaigning ignoring most of the
real problems we face. "Giving away free stuff" is decried as socialism on the low end,
is crony
capitalism on the high end, but maybe the spirit of Christmas could be spread around
more equitably? Only if the little people demand it. So far not likely in the
USA.
Of all the impeachable offenses Trump is guilty of, which have
done real damage not only to many living human beings but to the future of the
human race (rewarding crony capitalism by eliminating regulations protecting
the public from their greed or not enforcing similar laws), not to mention
violating the Constitution from the beginning by profiting off of his position
to increase the value of his brand and properties, they go after some old
fashioned politican corruption of extorting a foreign nation in need of
military aid to resist Russian militarism to try to confirm discredited right
wing conspiracy theories about Joe Biden and his son, who are the face of
corruption on the Democratic side of the isle.
- Translation to Italian:
Baba Natale Cattiva NON
Abbiamo tutti bisogno
di più abbracci, letteralmente e figurativamente.
Scegli l'inclusione
piuttosto che l'esclusione,
amore invece dell'odio,
speranza invece
della disperazione,
agire per il futuro dell'umanità.
- Sketches:
Total self-plagiarism. Not inspired to create anew
this year. Things are not very optimistic on so many fronts.
the Trial
Scene is from 2007. The first hug sketch is from
1994. The second hug sketch is from
1992.
- Personal News:
We spent 2.5 months in Rome this summer, our 11th summer at Piazza Crati
where we feel like we are part of the neighborhood. We visited Anjar,
Lebanon for the first time in 11 years, joined by ani's mom and sister who
did a little minitour of Italy (Rome, Venice, Florence) before we all flew
together to Beirut. It was so great to see all the relatives, everyone was
so warm and kind to us. And great food!

food posts without the politics, check out our

not quite a blog What, ME Cook?
website.
Not quite so NEW!
bob took to
Instagram to
share his mostly last century sketch art with a few more people than
randomly find his lonely mostly ignored website.
- Remembrances:
David Sprows at 80 after 57 years of Villanova Math teaching relapsed
from pancreatic cancer after seemingly beating it and returning to teach a
final semester. We will miss him.
- Financials (and stamps!):
The color of
the paper this year was ultra lemon but Villanova Fed-Ex contracted its
space this past summer and the Z-fold machine was disappeared. They have to
send it out for the Z-fold.
$154??? for 600 copies this time around.
This annual enterprise was sent out to about 570 recipients all over the world again with nice Love stamps to the
domestic crowd (55 cents), Poinsetta Holiday stamp
to destinations abroad ($1.15 ouch!).
Love stamp archive!
Postage in the same ballpark as last year $418.75 = 420x0.50 domestic + 180x1.15 foreign (and used 386+184 =
570).
The dr bob negative profit corporation bookkeeping: a loss of over 600
bucks to plant a few smiles around the world, for a net gain not measurable
in dollars, serving to keep in touch with so many people who have entered
our lives over the years as we stumble through life.
